Inside Beauty: We're Going All Natural

Did you know you can look and feel beautiful with simple, all natural products? The best part is, you probably already have them stashed away in your kitchen cupboards. If not, you can always pick them up on your next stroll down the produce aisle.

For instance, you can get fresh breath from coconut oil, and soft, vibrant hair from avocado. Try the following ideas for some low cost, all-natural alternatives to the expensive products on the shelf and see how you good you feel afterwards!

1. Coconut Oil Pulling

People say it’s a natural tooth whitener and it may actually make your breath fresher. The reason it’s called oil pulling is you’re literally pulling bacteria out of your mouth. A detoxification process, if you will.

How to do it:

Take a tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for about four minutes (some experts recommend 15-20 minutes). That’s right, ladies…minutes. Not seconds. It may not be the most pleasant experience, but it does help your teeth feel polished, just like after you leave the dentist’s office. Keep in mind, “pulling” should not replace brushing and flossing, but if you like a clean, fresh mouth, this might be the thing for you. Plus, it’s super inexpensive and will last you a long time!

2. Avocado Hair Mask

Has your hair been damaged by heat from blow drying or curling irons? Throw some avocado onto your dry, brittle locks, and watch them moisten up.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 small ripe avocado – make sure it’s really ripe
  • 1 Tbsp. olive or almond oil
  • 1/2 cup milk – less milk for more thickness

How to do it:

Blend avocado, then add milk and oil. Mix well. Apply mixture to the hair by starting at the roots and going to the tips. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. Shampoo and condition hair as normal. You’ll love how soft your hair feels!
